Of course nothing can compete with the latest dancing baby video, which has 1.4 million views on YouTube alone, but these are pretty darn cute. Our Flip Cam was full so we took some stills of Jack watching the Glee version of Beyonce's All the Single Ladies. As you can see, he was pretty amazed/scandalized.

Like Mother Like Son
As Jack gets "older" and his face seems to change daily, some family members are harkening back to the infant days of both Jack's parents. Plus there's the whole phenomenon that kids start out looking like dad, then start to look like mom. Is it true? You be the judge. While Jack is clearly doing his own thing - he's truly one of a kind - there are some undeniable similarities between him and his ma. Here are a couple recent shots (from Maine) next to a shot of Michele and Stephanie around the same age, six months. Let us know what you think!
Do You Like Apples?
Today was Jack's first bite at the apples. Even the faint tartness of Red Delicious made him do bitter beer faces (see last photo). Apples also seem to trigger articulation (more so than food in general), as Jack treated us to his full repertoire of tropical bird sounds and babbling - now with consonants! In fact, we're pretty sure we heard him say, a la Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting, "How d'ya like them apples?"

Feeding Time
We will have to get some video of this special time of day, feeding time. Jack becomes incredibly animated and playful and he sounds a lot like a large tropical bird as he gulps down sweet potatoes, pears, carrots and cereal. The legs, one of Jack's "tells" when he is excited, can be seen in motion here... Though he seems to be saying at the end, "If you're not gonna feed me something, I'm really not sure why you're standing there taking pictures."

Family Style
Adiron-Jack
You're never too young to start adopting the customs required for proper relaxation in the great state of Maine (or anywhere!). Here, Jack tries on an Adirondack chair for size. Despite not being able to sit up on his own for very long, he looked reasonably comfortable in this one. (Notice, he is using his special feet-together/Karate Kid balancing technique.) So we renamed it the Adiron-Jack chair.

Bumbo Time, Take II
Exersaucer Shakedown
Jack's first time in the exersaucer, his exersaucer, drew Evie's immediate attention on Labor Day Monday... Until now, Evie has enjoyed her exersaucer, at her place, unchallenged by Jack. Suddenly, she was presented with a) a new exersaucer, at Jack's place, and b) someone in it.
To which Evie says, "Listen, punk, I will yank you out of here by your shirtsleeve."
To which Jack says, "You lie!" - no wait, that was Joe Wilson, committing political suicide a few days later.
Instead, Jack appeals to Evie's "guardian," who can be seen egging her on. "You calm her down, and I'll let her have a turn in a few minutes."

Echo Lake Dip (aka "Baptism Fail")
Since Jack loves his bath, splish-splashing nearly every night, we thought he'd appreciate the feel of the some cool mountain lake water between his tiny toes on hot summer's day. Not so much.
Once again, Jack demonstrates his appreciation for the director's camera, but forgets his lines and makes this moment an unforgettable one for unscripted reasons. We recommend turning the volume up for full enjoyment. (Video by Derek Jones)
